hydraulic PIGGING & testing

Montauk Services is one of North America's most experienced pipeline pigging and integrity testing companies. Pigging effectively cleans and removes debris from the interior of pipelines using a foam device propelled by normal flow. The technique is especially effective for force main & wastewater management, long runs and larger diameter pipelines; the method is also used to remove zebra and quagga mussels from intake lines. Pipeline pigs have the ability to navigate short radius elbows, tees, and most types of valves. For over 37 years, Montauk Services has been trusted by both public and private sector clients to assess issues and safely solve them quickly and economically. In most cases, cleaning pigs restore pipelines to near original conditions and flow rates.

smart tools for integrity

integrity inspections

Municipalities with aging infrastructure are smart to proactively evaluate the integrity of pressure lines before costly failures happen. Montauk technicians are experienced at running integrity inspections that diagnose problems and anomalies. Smart pigs such as the SmartFoam Tools avoid the disruption and high cost of conventional in-line inspection. The embedded sensors gather data about pipeline wall conditions and anomalies in steel, cast iron, and ductile iron piping.

NEW: SmartFoam Tools

This specialized SmartFoam Tool is ideal for cost effective, free flowing integrity inspections. The smart pig determines wall degradation in cast iron, ductile, and steel mains. The SmartFoam Tool has the same characteristics as the foam poly pig. It can run long lengths of pipe, navigate T’s and elbows (up to 1.5’ diameter) and be retrieved in an excavation or terminus manhole. It has 18 electromagnetic sensors that continuously monitor and collect data.

smART pig tracking

Pig tracking is essential to any pigging operation. It allows Montauk's technicians to verify speed, location and retrieval time which is important in all systems. Transmitters and receivers are utilized from Pipeline Inspection, Comtel and Envirocal. On longer runs, specialized above ground markers will indicate pig passage time and GPS location. The information is processed through iridium satellites and relayed to technicians via smart devices.
