During the fall of 2018, the City of Toronto initiated a project to clean all three (3) sixty-inch diameter HDPE raw water intakes at the Island Water Treatment Plant, restore intake flow to its original design specification, and reduce plant operating costs. The Island WTP is vital to the City of Toronto.
